What material is used for injection mold processing?
Injection molds are complex tools composed of multiple parts, which play an important role in determining the quality and yield of plastic products. Therefore, the selection of materials for injection mold processing is crucial, and the appropriate materials must be selected for processing according to the specific requirements of the mold and the characteristics of the product production.
Steel material Steel material is the most commonly used material in injection mold processing, because of its high hardness, high strength, good cutting performance, so it is very suitable for processing injection molds. Among the steel materials, P20 steel, 718 steel, NAK80 steel, S136 steel and so on are commonly used injection mold processing materials.
(1) P20 steel: P20 steel is a high-quality low alloy cold work die steel, usually used to produce medium size and medium weight injection molds. The material has high hardness, good processing performance and good heat treatment performance, and is suitable for injection mold processing with high requirements.
(2) 718 steel: 718 steel is a nickel-based alloy steel with high hardness, corrosion resistance and thermal stability. Because 718 steel has excellent wear resistance and high temperature strength, it is suitable for the production of high demand injection molds.
(3) NAK80 steel: NAK80 steel is a high-strength, high-toughness steel material, with good thermal fatigue resistance and cold fatigue resistance. NAK80 steel is suitable for the production of high-speed injection molds and high-precision injection molds.
(4) S136 steel: S136 steel is a high-quality stainless steel, with excellent corrosion resistance, high hardness and high wear resistance. Due to its good processability and stability, S136 steel is commonly used in the production of high-quality, high-precision injection molds.
Aluminum alloy material Aluminum alloy material is another commonly used injection mold processing material, it has good thermal conductivity, strength and toughness, very suitable for the production of high-speed injection molds. Common aluminum alloy materials are 7075 aluminum alloy, 6061 aluminum alloy and so on.
(1) 7075 aluminum alloy: 7075 aluminum alloy is a high-strength, high-hardness aluminum alloy material, with excellent mechanical properties and cutting properties. Due to its high hardness and strength, 7075 aluminum alloy is suitable for the production of large injection molds.
(2) 6061 aluminum alloy: 6061 aluminum alloy is a commonly used in injection mold processing of aluminum alloy material, it has good processing performance and high corrosion resistance, suitable for the production of small and medium-sized injection molds.
Copper alloy material Copper alloy material is another commonly used injection mold processing material, due to its high thermal conductivity, excellent processing properties and fatigue resistance, suitable for the production of high-speed injection molds. Common copper alloy materials are H13 copper alloy, Beryllium copper and so on.
(1) H13 copper alloy: H13 copper alloy is a kind of superalloy steel, with high hardness, high strength and high temperature resistance, suitable for the production of high-speed injection molds. (2) Beryllium copper: Beryllium copper is a copper alloy material with high strength, high hardness and high thermal conductivity. Due to its high thermal conductivity and fatigue resistance, Beryllium copper is suitable for the production of high-speed injection molds and large injection molds.
In addition to the above materials, injection mold processing can also choose some other special materials, such as ceramic materials, plastic materials and so on. Because of its high hardness, high wear resistance and high temperature stability, ceramic materials can be used to produce high-precision injection molds and ultra-high-speed injection molds. Due to its good wear and corrosion resistance, plastic materials are suitable for the production of injection molds with special shapes.
