Machining (that is, traditional cutting and grinding processing) is an indispensable processing method for mold manufacturing. Machining is characterized by high machining precision and high production efficiency. However, when processing complex shapes, the processing speed is slow, hard materials are difficult to process, and the material utilization rate is not high.
2. Special processing
Special processing is also known as electrical processing, in a broad sense, special processing refers to the direct use of electrical energy, chemical energy, sound energy, light energy, etc., to remove excess materials on the workpiece, in order to achieve a certain shape, size and surface roughness of the processing method, Including EDM forming, wire cutting, electrochemical machining, electrochemical polishing, electroforming, chemical etching, ultrasonic processing, laser processing and so on. Special processing has nothing to do with the hardness of the workpiece, and can be achieved with soft and rigid, and can process a variety of complex shapes of parts. Special machining has been more and more widely used in mold manufacturing.
3. Plastic processing
Plastic processing mainly refers to the cold extrusion molding method, that is, the hardened forming die is forcefully pressed into the mold blank that has not been hardened, so that the shape of the forming die is copied on the pressed mold blank, and the required mold is made. This forming method does not need the finishing of the profile, the molding speed is fast, and various complex profiles can be made.
4. Casting processing
For some molds with low precision and service life requirements, a simple and convenient casting method can be used for rapid forming. For example: zinc-based alloy mold, with low melting point material zinc-based alloy casting mold, also known as rapid mold making method, its mold making speed is fast, easy to make a complex shape of the mold. However, the material of the mold is soft and the heat resistance is poor, so the life of the mold is short, and it is mostly used for trial production and small batch production.
5. Welding processing
The welding method is to weld the processed modules together to form the required mold. Compared with the overall processing, this method is simple and the size is not limited, but the accuracy is difficult to guarantee, and it is easy to retain thermal strain and internal stress, which is mainly used for the manufacturing of large molds with low precision requirements.
6. CNC machining
CNC machining is the use of CNC machine tools and CNC technology to complete the processing of die parts, according to the original conditions such as the part pattern and process requirements to prepare CNC machining programs, input the CNC system, and then control the relative motion of the tool and the mold workpiece in the CNC machine tool to complete the processing of parts. The range of CNC machine tools is very wide, in the machining there are CNC turning, CNC milling, CNC drilling, CNC grinding, machining center processing; In the plastic processing, CNC punching machine processing, pipe bending machine processing, etc. In the special forming, there are CNC EDM, CNC wire cutting, CNC laser processing and so on.
